My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Feb 22nd, 2008, 2:11am
Quote
The small town of Valentine Bluffs makes the mistake of celebrating St. Valentine's Day after a 20 year ban. Soon bloody hearts in candy-boxes and horribly mutilated bodies become the decoration of choice. Has the town's legendary killer Harry Warden returned to wreak vengeance against the townsfolk?

Here is my review for "My Bloody Valentine" (1981)!
Smiley - As an added bonus, I added "The Ballad of Harry Warden" as a free download at the bottom of the review! Enjoy!

Update - January 16th, 2009: I've just updated my review for "My Bloody Valentine" with a fresh review for the new Special Edition DVD plus the addition of screencaps from the movie! You may be asking yourself, why did you give this review and this movie so much lovin'?

Well that's because it is currently the hottest review.... nay... the hottest PAGE on the site, what with the 3-D remake out in theaters and all. (I'll be seeing that tomorrow AND Monday! I can't wait! Harry Warden in 3-D! WOOHOO!!!) So enjoy the new stuff on this review and expect a capsule review for "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" in the very near future!

Damn I shouldn't have read your reveiw VM cause I have to wait a whole week before I can get mine. On a related matter I about nearly killed a customer at work the other day. I was on break back in the electornics department and this girl and her boyfriend come up to me and ask if it's the one that just came out in theaters. When I told them it was the original they both looked disgusted and said that they didn't want an old cheesy horror movie. God some people have no respect for the classics any more. I am ashamed for my spoiled on CGI generation.

Ugh. I hate people. I really do. The next few generations have no love for anything old and/or nostalgic, so it is up to us to keep the torch burning. You should have left, purchased a pick-axe, came back, and shown those idiots some old school slasher fun.  Wink Grin

It was tempting, but I was on the clock. However if I wasn't I would have went and got a mining suit too, just so I could make the papers. But alas the FCC and the MPAA would be all over how evil horror movies are and how they are a bad infulence on people.

Hahahaha. Yeah, the accursed MPAA. I'm shocked they gave the remake an R-rating.

I was surfing around ShockTillYouDrop.com and found a neat interview with George Mihalka, the director of "My Bloody Valentine." According to him, the version we have on DVD is as close as we'll ever get to a completely uncut version. The vault materials they had on hand were badly damaged and producer John Dunning didn't have ALL the uncut footage. In particular, the one thing that seems to be missing is the drillbit kill, which sounds like it would've been a real shocker.

The remake was amazing! Just turn off your brain and enjoy the rollercoaster ride! The 3-D effects are awesome (no headaches!), there's a few cool twists and turns with the plot (I actually was fooled by the ending.... something I'm not proud of), and there is a ton of gratuitous blood and violence AND full frontal female nudity! I'm taking my girlfriend to see it tomorrow; I'm very much looking forward to my second viewing! It totally gets my stamp of approval DD!  Grin
