THIS WEEK’S NEW THEATRICAL RELEASES:
Ninja Assassin – A young boy is trained by a ninja clan to become one of its deadliest assassins. When he grows older, he turns his back on this clan and is marked for death leading to ninja battles galore. Though I’ve heard some positive buzz about this flick, I’ve also heard an equal amount of negative stuff, particularly that the film is sometimes so dark that you can’t follow the action. I may see it during my three day weekend, but I won’t be too heartbroken if I miss this film before its eventual DVD release.
The Road – Now here’s something with a lot of promise. Viggo Mortensen plays a father, who is traveling through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and viciously protects his young son from a (possibly cannibalistic) tribe of rednecks. Looks like this movie is headed more in a dramatic route, but it should be a good watch nonetheless.
That’s it for this week b-movie fans! Have a Happy Thanksgiving; be sure to stuff yourselves full of turkey! Also, please be careful and courteous if you’re one of those crazy psycho-shoppers that charges off into battle at 4 AM on Black Friday. (My advice to you would be to do the bulk of your shopping online; it’s easier, safer, and just as thrifty!) If I don’t go into a turkey-coma or get killed by an insane shopper this weekend, then you may just see another Genre Watch update next week! Check back next Tuesday to find out! – Vault Master
